Course Number: WWP190910603  (Idaho)
                              ECY17-1605  (Washington)

Course Approval:  9/17/2019 to 9/17/2021 (Idaho)
                                August 22, 2017 to August 22, 2020 (Washington)

Discipline:   Wastewater

CEUs Assigned:  0.3  (Idaho)
                              0.3  (Washington)

Course Agenda:  Located here

This course is designed to introduce the wastewater operator to the exciting world of ammonia treatment and removal that wastewater operators around the world are increasingly having to address. This is only an introductory course so as much as we may want, the information is limited, though the operator is encouraged to pursue addition information apart from this course.

The operator will learn why ammonia has become such a high priority wastewater issue with States and EPA. The operator will learn about natural stream conditions that prompt effluents limits and the chemistry and microbiology behind these conditions. The operator will learn about the nitrogen cycle in the environment and in wastewater specifically. The operator will learn what equipment and processes must be installed and implemented in order to remove phosphorus, nitrites, and nitrates in the waste stream. Finally, the operator will learn what options are available for ultimate treatment and disposal of ammonia and/or nitrogen compounds.

There will be a lot of discussion and examples. All are welcome and I look forward to meeting new friends and seeing old friends. The cost of this six-hour course (0.6 CEU's) is $150.00, and of course refreshments are provided.
