Wastewater systems and wastewater regulatory requirements are constantly changing and trying to play catch-up after a change occurs can be stressful and costly.  For example, knowing your system has industries that discharge harmful chemicals and metals into your wastewater collection system may mean that future NPDES permits may set metal limits in the future, which would necessitate installing additional treatment to meet those limits.
